West Campus Center Opens
November 11, 2018
On Thursday, November 8, 2018, the St. Sebastian's School community gathered in front of the new West Campus Center for the blessing of the building and a ribbon cutting ceremony.
This beautiful $31 million expansion and renovation project adds 49,000 square feet of new construction and 21,000 square feet of renovated space to St. Sebastian's School. Funded through the $55 million Spirit & People Capital Campaign, the West Campus Center includes a second full basketball court with a balcony overlook, six squash courts, an expansive wrestling room, a video classroom for art history, drama, college counseling, and athletics, a new training room, and office space for admissions, communications, development, and athletics, among many other features.
St. Sebastian's School's Chaplain, Father John Arens, opened the ceremony with a stirring prayer. Headmaster Burke, Board of Trustees President, Jim Elcock, Campaign Co-Chairs, Jack Connors and Bill O'Malley, and Student Body President, Will Hentschel '19 followed with words of infinite gratitude.
Scissors in hand, the speakers, along with Assistant Headmaster and Dean of Studies, Mike Nerbonne, and Business Manager, Jack Doherty, ceremoniously cut the ribbon, officially opening the West Campus Center. In a few short days, students and coaches will be engaged in winter season athletic activities in this state-of-the-art facility.
We have been leading and winning with our spirit and our people, our mission and our curriculum, our passion and our commitment, our devotion and our love, and now we're taking the arguments away, evolving as we should – providing our students and those who serve them with needed facilities and endowment, creating more and better opportunities to pursue and achieve excellence in body, mind, and spirit.
